The STAR HOTEL GROUP is currently seeking a talented Chefs or Cooks to join our team. The venues are located in Ayr and Innisfail in Far North Queensland.

The successful applicant will need to be creative and passionate about commercial cookery. We are continually expanding and require a team member that is prepared to evolve with the venue. A commitment to innovation and a passion for creating flavoursome dishes that have that WOW factor is essential.

The successful applicant will possess the following attributes –

  • Relevant formal qualifications

  • Food safety supervisor certificate

Main tasks:

  • Prepare, season and cook food in the Restaurant
  • examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
  • regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
  • preparing and cooking food
  • seasoning food during cooking
  • portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
  • storing food in temperature-controlled facilities
  • preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
  • may plan menus and estimate food requirements
  • may train other kitchen staff and apprentices

 

Position requires the successful applicant to speak and understand English. They must also be suitably qualified (AQF Certificate IV in Hospitality and/or Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification) or have at least 2 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen.

We will pay a salary package which is commensurate with experience.

Reporting to the Head Chef and Venue Manager, you will be responsible for the operation of service, ensuring that all food is served to the standard set by the chef and company – and most importantly, you’ll be responsible for creating a culture of excitement, excellence and innovation in your kitchen.
